Arkansas requires that you use Arkansas form ?AR4EC, Employee?s Withholding Exemption Certificate? instead of a Federal W-4 Form for Arkansas State Income Tax Withholding.

Not all states allow salary reductions made under Section 125 cafeteria plans or 401(k) to be treated in the same manner as the IRS code allows. In Arkansas cafeteria plans: are not taxable for income tax calculation; are not taxable for unemployment insurance purposes. 401(k) plan deferrals are: not taxable for income taxes; are not taxable for unemployment purposes.

In Arkansas supplemental wages are taxed at a 7% flat rate.

You may file your Arkansas State W-2s by magnetic media if you choose to.

The Arkansas State Unemployment Insurance Agency is:

Employment Security Department
P.O. Box 2981

The disc is divided into 3

The disc is divided into 3 parts ? The lead-in area containing the Table of Contents, the program area containing the audio data, and the lead-out area containing no data.

The Red Book of was developed in 1980 by Sony and Phillips to specify the physical parameters of the audio CD. This includes the optical stylus parameters, deviations and error rate, modulation system and error correction, and subcode channels and graphics. One other major CD specification set by the Red Book is the form of digital audio encoding taken on by CDs. The parameters set have become a de-facto standard in the CD duplication industry.

All in all, most consumers probably won?t be too concerned with the individual technical specifications set by the Red Book.

Like many of you, my first

Like many of you, my first job was supporting software for customers in my company's help desk. I knew from day 1 that I could not let myself become complacent in that job. Here are five things I did to work towards getting out of that help desk:

1. DO work towards the more popular industry certifications.

Computer certifications such as Microsoft's MCSE and Cisco's CCNA may be more popular and widespread than ever, but that doesn't mean you should dismiss working towards and obtaining them. In fact, it should be the exact reason you WANT to obtain them. They've almost become prerequisites in many IT positions beyond the help desk.

There are approximately 26.5 million names

There are approximately 26.5 million names in the database at risk. This means that they could become the victims of identify theft.

In 2005 the average loss experienced by identity theft victims was more than $6,000.00 as determined by a study completed by Javelin Strategy & Research. They indicate it cost the victims approximately $400 to remove inaccurate information, close or change their credit card accounts and complete all the necessary documentation.

There are a number of companies who help those with resolution of identity theft issues. They do some or most of the work to file police reports and gather pertinent information including making phone calls. Check with your bank, credit union, insurance company, automobile insurance as well as homeowners and renters insurance to see if there is a rider on your policy that will pay for the service. There are a few companies who offer services directly to the public.

Check out the information on http://www.consumer.gov/idtheft/ for relevant information that will help you. I suggest you check out the available sources including your creditors prior to having a problem. While caution with your credit information is a prudent choice, you should be prepared in the event you have a problem.

Are you sitting uncomfortably, in an old house, by candlelight? ThenI'llbegin BOOK OF THE WEEK

Byline: Sam Leith

THE great horror writer Stephen King was once asked who he saw as his target audience. He said that, actually, he wrote for rational, non-superstitious adults.

He wrote for people who know -- with the certainty that they know the earth is round and that two plus two equals four -- that there is no bogeyman.

He wrote for people who know that if, in the small hours of the night, they were to slip their foot out from under the duvet and plant it on the floor, a clammy, dead hand would not shoot out from under the bed and grab their ankle.

But King's audience, he said, were the people who despite knowing all this, nevertheless keep their feet under the duvet just in case.

Andrew Martin is just one of those people, and in this pleasing, quirky little book -- part-memoir, part-cultural history, part-reportage -- he takes a whimsically cursory follow-your-nose tour around the anatomy of the British ghost story.

He discusses both 'true' stories of haunting and literary ones -- and points out how very little there is to separate them.

He studs his story with the personal ghost stories of his friends from the pub (Martin is forced to admit, with a mixture of embarrassment and relief, that he has never himself seen a ghost), and with little lists: capsule accounts of Six Famous Haunted Houses, or Four Eminent Seance Goers, or Six Attempts At Putting On A Brave Face.

MARTIN talks intelligently about the conventions of the ghost-story form. He's amusing, for instance, about the way in which the narrator takes care to establish his bona fides as an academic, sceptic and man of the world ('the proof of sanity that is obligatory in these cases'): 'Nobody wants to listen to someone who begins "And the 16th time I saw a ghost..." or to read a ghost story narrated by a character who, like the Satanist in My Black Mirror by Wilkie Collins (1856), gleefully declares: "I have not one morsel of rationality about me." ' Eccentrically but effectively, Martin describes the difference between gothic fiction and ghost fiction as being 'encapsulated by two experi-ences I had while in the bath'. Gothic was the time he accidentally cut himself on his father's razor and didn't notice 'until I saw a red cloud unrolling within the hot water'; ghostly were the gurgling taps in Southwold that 'sounded like a babble of hoarse, indistinct voices' emitting 'distinct, sibilant words in odd conjunctions' -- such as 'necessary separation' -- before our hero fled and calmed himself by listening to Radio Five Live.

He notes the shape of the classic stories: the gathering atmosphere; the obdurate and hubristic scepticism; the crescendo and reveal, or half-reveal. He talks with authority and enthusiasm about the ghost stories of Dickens, M.R. James and Bulwer-Lytton -- quoting the best gathering-storm descriptions, the most desperate perfectly rational explanations, the creepiest payoffs.

Here, too, are to be found discussions of 'fetches' (living spirits sent to warn others of death) and postcognition, of cold patches and Victorian table-rappers and ectoplasm-slingers, of headless ghosts and phantom monks, white ladies and poltergeists and -- in a glumly downbeat coda -- a visit to watch the telly psychic Derek Acorah play a gig in Ipswich.

This is often a very funny book. Its author has an immaculate sense of when to drop in a bit of bathos. His account of Burton Agnes Hall in East Yorkshire -- where the ghost of Anne Griffith patrols, checking that her head is still walled up somewhere within the house -- ends by noting that it now also boasts 'a gift shop and garden shop, an ice cream parlour and a children's playground with guinea pigs'.

The Berkshire stately home where a baby was burned alive is now, he reports, run by Warner Leisure Hotels, and 'it is stressed at the foot of the home page that Littlecote House is a non-smoking hotel'.

It cannot be said he has stinted on his research, either. In discussing the Wicked Lady of Markyate Hall in Hertfordshire, he finds time to mention the Guardian's verdict on the 1945 film about her: 'A mixture of hot passion and cold suet pudding.' It's lovely to hear of the real Thirties ghost-hunter Harry Price -- who set off to investigate the horrors of Borley Rectory with a 'ghost-hunter's kit' consisting of 'portable telephone for communicating with an assistant', 'notebook', 'red, blue and black pencils', 'bowl of mercury for detecting tremors in a room', 'soft felt overshoes used for creeping' and 'flask of brandy in case member of investigating staff or resident is injured or faints'

Aluminum because of

Aluminum because of its characteristics of strength, being light weight and malleable reduces the weight of cars. The Aluminum Association reports that In 2000, transportation accounted for 32.5 percent of all US shipments. That same year aluminum passed
plastic--with average content of 257 lbs per vehicle to become the third most-used material in automobiles.

Car manufacturers have a goal of designing light weight, fuel efficient cars. Aluminum seems to fit this requirement. Aluminum is not only being used for door panels but manufacturers are extending
The use of aluminum to the structural make up of the car's power train suspension components and body parts.

The Wall Street Journal reported July 22, 2004.

The left brain — reflected more in

The left brain -- reflected more in the
right side of the face -- relates to logic, pragmatic thinking, practicality and
language.

The right part of the brain, in turn, relates more to intuition, imagination, and other
more creative leanings.

The basic gut feelings, including your attitude towards yourself and your life
emanate from your right brain. You express them more in the left side of your face.

We do not see things as they are; we see them as we are.

The more controlled or conscious responses -- the social mask you put on for the
world -- may be processed more by the pragmatic left brain and appear more
readily on the right side of the face.

Now you may be getting lost in ?lefts? and ?rights? of all this, but let?s continue with
some experiments you can conduct to learn more about yourself and others for
whom you have strong feelings (like or dislike) in your life.

How Do You See the World?

Ironically, the right brain is more actively involved in observing the world -- which it
does predominantly through your left eye. And, when you face someone, your left
eye is across from the other person?s right side.
